Industry institute interaction is necessary for the benefit to the society at a large. The technology transfer between institute and industry is the need of today. This will help faculty ans students to expose the industrial environment and thereby students will be readily fit for job that industry expected. The inputs from Industry expert also helps to continuously update curriculum. The undertaking of the joint research programmes by industry and institute is very much necessary.
The objective of this interaction is to Improve the performance of R-410A compressor used for air conditioner application especially for high ambient temperatures. During this ongoing interaction, Dr. Kundlik Mali gave the presentation to the Vice President, Emerson Climate and AC development Team on the same.
The 1.5 TR capacity Split air conditioner was developed by Dr. Kundlik Mali using HFC-32 refrigerant as an alternative to HCFC-22. The system simulation and components optimization was carreied out at Blue Star, Thane. The project was executed from year 2013 to 2015. The split air conditioner unit was successful developed which deliver EER of 3.70 using HFC-32. These developed units were commercialized by Blue Star, Thane.
The natural refrigerant HC-290 was used in as an replacement to HCFC-22 in split air conditioner (SAC) and window air conditioner (WAC). The fixed speed compressor, expansion device and condenser were designed and optimized for the use of HC-290 in both WAC and SAC. The energy efficient air conditioner was developed by Dr. Mali along with Dr. Devotta and Dr.Padalkar and this unit was commercialized in March 2013 by Godrej and Boyce Appliance Ltd. More than 600 k units are already in operation.
The objective of this interaction was to train the Thermal Trainee Engineers in the flied of Refrigeration and Air conditioning. For this credit course of six month developed along with Dr. Ashish Kadam. The course was successfully executed as per industry expectation for six batches.
The objective of this was to train the industry professionals and students in the area of Industrial Combustion Technology. For this the new course- Industrial Combustion Technology, was designed ans executed.
